Where We Meet | Review

It’s been a long wait, but it has happened; CLOUDLAND has finally released their debut album, Where We Meet. This album has been in the works long before the pandemic. With over a year and a half of planning, writing and recording, Zachary, Hogan, Karmen and Aidan have created something truly extraordinary and beautiful, something they can be proud of that people will listen to for years to come.

This rock album’s journey began sixteen months ago when they released the title track Where We Meet, a song about two people finding common ground in their relationship. It continued for another three singles with Walking AwayLights and St. Elmo

The album, Where We Meet has six new tracks covering topics from the fear of loss to the feeling of joy and uncertainty at the end of a relationship. CLOUDLAND brings what I can only describe as their signature to this album, not just their sound but their lyrics.

The album is open and honest from the moment Zach begins to sing. The emotion in his voice as he describes a phone call and the thoughts racing through the person’s head. Honestly, Zach’s voice through the whole album draws you into the lyrics and makes you feel, especially in Perfect Timing.

It’s a fantastic album, and I genuinely connect with a few songs, Walking Away and Overthinking, at the top of that list.

This record hits on a lot of topics, and if you haven’t had a chance to listen to it, I highly recommend it. Perhaps the most impressive thing about this entire album is that they were able to do it independently.

I love CLOUDLAND, and I’ve been very vocal about the fact that I enjoy their music. But I have to be fair and honest; there were some disappointing things, one of the most pressing was that there were only ten songs on the album, of which six were new, and one was a preludeā€”a good prelude; still a little disappointing.

While I enjoyed the album as a whole, it’s not as polished, and as a band, they have room to grow, but that’s what excites me so much about these guys. They are good and will become something great.

If you have yet to this album, set aside some time and listen to it. It gets 8 EMU’s out of 10. Their chemistry is unmatched, and I am very much looking forward to hearing what comes next as they evolve.
