Coming soon: half • alive
half • alive has tweeted two teasers about their next song, which has an indeterminate release date, but I believe it to be at least within this month. The first teaser has some very quick-moving text with TV static at the end; to me, it looks like the next song’s lyrics. I also think we hear a very distorted version of the song playing in the background, which they have done before.
As I said, it goes by quite fast, so I watched it a bunch of times over, so you didn’t have to! It reads as follows.
NOW THE YEAR IS AGING
& THE SHADOWS GROW
& THE COLOR’S FADING
& THE PEOPLE START TO SLOW
LIKE A CROWDED STATION
WHERE THE AIR IS COLD
ALL THE STRANGERS WAITING
WHEN SUMMER COMES
I’MMA CUT MY HAIR
TAKE A LONG DRIVE
HEADED ANYWHERE
BE ___ ALL
W___ ___ ____
I can’t make out the last two sentences very well. I tried everything from converting it to a stabilized gif to taking each frame individually, taking out some interference, and overlaying each of them in photoshop. All to try and get a clearer picture of what it said, it didn’t work very well. The second word in the second last sentence has seven letters, I think, very hard to tell.
The second and more visual is a teaser that shows Josh Taylor appearing to get his hair cut, which follows in line with what the text (lyrics) were in the first teaser. It also comes with the caption “• welcome to the summer era” which would fit with what is believed to be the title to one of their unreleased songs. Which is coded in the music video of their song What’s Wrong; you can read the entire coded message here. Spoiler, there is still more unreleased music.
Time for some wild predictions; not only is half • alive just warming up with this third single, but they’re also getting ready to tease a fourth single and release an album this fall or winter. I know, a wild prediction. But it’s been a while since their debut, and they’ve released quite a few singles since then. Josh is a talented writer, and I don’t doubt that there are many songs that we don’t know about yet. Either way, I like what they’re doing and where they’re headed. New music is always appreciated by them.
