The Greatest Indie Labels of 2020

Through this article we will be counting down the top 10 greatest indie labels of 2020 based on their lineup.

Coming in at number 10, we have what I personally consider the best indie label Indie Vision Music for past releases and recent releases (specifically from Aug 7 and Oct 23 of this year).

Sadly Brandon Jones, who runs IVM, has announced that the label will end. It had a strong lineup and release from the beginning with Light The Way – Grace EP. I have thoroughly enjoyed the run it had, they introduced me to some of my new favourite artists.

Their releases this year with Grandpa Loves Rhinos – Searching in the Sarchasm, Homeplate – Derby City, The Prettybads – Jessica, Orion Walsh – House Arrest, Nate Parrish – Bullets and Blades, were all incredible! The final lineup is amazing and I am saddened to see it go. If you haven’t heard (though I highly doubt it) any of the releases from this year check it out below.

As I mentioned, the label is being slowly shut down. As the indie world goes, though, your return is not near what you invest, and it’s understandable. At some point, Brandon took stock of how much he had invested and made the difficult decision to end the label. The amount of time, money and effort he has poured in behind the scenes to make these releases a reality is impressive, and I cannot fathom the struggle he had to endure to reach that decision.

Between Brandon, the artists and releases put out this year, the Indie Vision Music label rightfully deserves its spot on this list.

Coming in at number 9-1, we also have the Indie Vision Music label. Like c’mon! They had Nate Parrish, Grandpa Loves Rhinos, Orion Walsh and Homeplate as part of their final lineup! Honestly, just for their re-releases, they deserve more praise than I can give.

So, you caught me. This isn’t actually a list of the greatest indie music labels, this is just an appreciation post for the hard work that Brandon has put into this side of IVM. I look forward to continuing to enjoy the site and all future ventures through IVM.

If you want to get anything from the Indie Vision Music label before things sell out, go to their store. I highly recommend snagging a copy of Homeplate & Grandpa Loves Rhinos.

Thank you Brandon for everything you have put into the label these past few years.
